Macbeth and Shakespeare Can Go…. Monday, August 30, 2010

… fall off a cliff and die, well, if they were living. Seriously.

I had a rough draft due last Wednesday over Macbeth. This was the prompt “Novelists and playwrights have often seen madness with a “discerning Eye.” Select a novel or play in which a character’s apparent madness or irrational behavior plays an important role. Then write a well-organized essay in which you explain what this delusion or eccentric behavior consists of and how it might be judged reasonable. Explain the significance of the “madness” to the work as a whole. Do not merely summarize the plot.”

I had an amazing outline, an amazing thesis, and heck, I even thought my paper was pretty darn good to be the first full-fledged claim-data-warrant paper we’ve written under this teacher since 10th grade. Apparently my teacher didn’t think so. I got a 100 for having the rough draft, but the whole durn thing is marked up with red ink. I mean everything. The only thing that wasn’t touched was my introduction and conclusion. I wanted to cry when I saw my paper. I worked so hard for tons of red marks.

I guess it’s better now than in college, right? I’ll let you know how this thought goes.

So, our final paper is due Thursday, which I’m sure will still be an epic fail.

On a more positive note, I made the highest grade on my limits test in my class of Calculus. 92%! YES! I was extremely happy. I have a 97 in there. And I though Calc would be my hardest class… Boy, was I wrong!
